{"id":757,"date":"2010-11-19T04:51:00","date_gmt":"2010-11-19T04:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hiredgunhosting.com\/~creation\/?p=757"},"modified":"2012-09-11T16:21:53","modified_gmt":"2012-09-11T19:51:53","slug":"making-glass-beads-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/christinamleedesigns.com\/?p=757","title":{"rendered":"Making Glass Beads, Part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>After I make the beads, I put them in my kiln and fire them.\u00a0 The process is called annealing.\u00a0 It strengthens the glass so the bead will not crack and break.\u00a0 The glass has gone through severe thermal shock in the making of the bead, starting with the glass at room temperature to the very hot flame of the torch, about 2000 degrees, then slowly cooling again back to room temperature.\u00a0 Annealing them takes the glass up through all the temperature ranges slowly, allowing the glass to slowly acclimate and strengthen.\u00a0 I hold the kiln at 940 degrees for 30 minutes, which is called soaking, further strengthening beads before slowing cooling the kiln down.\u00a0 This process takes about 3 1\/2 hours.<\/h2>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;
